It is important to pay attention to the transfer of body weight from one foot to another when sliding. If you are not successful in this case, the following exercises may help:

2) "scooter" - sliding on one ski with the help of another;

A fairly common exercise for beginner skiers can help you teach turns to your little one. Modern children's skis are designed for such tricks and with the right approach, you will quickly master the carved turns.

The execution technique is as follows. Skis are arranged in the form of a "plow" - 5-10 centimeters between the toes and widely deployed backs of the skis so that the skier is comfortable. The trunk and arms are placed in the position of a simple central rack. To make a turn, you need a slight transfer of weight to the outer ski to turn - just lean slightly in the right direction. With this technique, children easily begin to feel the skis and soon begin to try to turn themselves.

2) body weight is transferred when walking from one leg to another;

3) the body leans forward a little more than when walking.

It is best to use the rope solely in the form of insurance - do not be afraid to let the child accelerate.

It is worth refraining from joint descents, in which the child will be between your legs or under your armpit - the children relax and lose all initiative. There is an alternative - ski poles, which you will hold at one end and the child at the other. The parent goes first, the child follows, holding on to sticks. An adult can ride backwards - the speed will be less, but at the same time you will have full control of the child. This method helps to teach the baby to ride turns - thanks to tight control, the parent sets the direction of movement. In any case, all the techniques described in their final result should lead the child to independent skiing.

How not to do

Many parents make some classic mistakes.

1. No need to do everything for the child.

At some point, the little skier needs to be released "to freedom" - to learn how to ride on their own. Skate skiing includes:

Skating skiing is a much younger style, it originated in the 50s of the twentieth century. For a long time, this move was just an exercise in learning to turn, push off, and step over in a gliding step. Riding with straight legs can be compared to riding a bus on a not-so-flat road. How long can you stand on straight legs without additional support on the handrails? Now try to bend your knees even more, and you will be surprised how much easier it is to control the body and technique and how easy it is to jump from small jumps and even slopes.

Make sure your heel always stays in the heel cup of your ski boots. If it doesn't, then you haven't bent your knees enough.

Find a balance

If you are a beginner, skiing puts your body in an unnatural position for it. The legs go forward, and the body is already trying to catch up with the runaway couple. And here, many beginners strive to sit on skis in order to eliminate this unpleasant imbalance, and this is completely wrong.

How right? You must pull yourself together and make sure that your body is above your legs. This will improve your technique and give you more control over your body and skis if your body is above the narrowest point of the skis (the “sweet spot”). Skiing without balance is very tiring.

sweet spot- the zone of optimal balance of the skier in the front-rear direction, being in which he easily controls the skis. Skis with a small Ss are less forgiving, it is necessary to keep the skier's weight at the right point all the time (stance control). For beginners, the feeling of skis attached to their feet seems rather strange. Therefore, out of curiosity, many begin to look at their skis (oh, what is happening to them ?!) instead of looking forward. The effect of this is about the same as if you were constantly looking at your shoes while walking: sooner or later you will definitely run into someone. Ski instructors suggest looking about 3 meters ahead. This way you can see people or trees in advance and avoid collisions or prepare for uneven terrain.

Also, the gaze directed forward will lead the body, that is, you will move where you look. It's like throwing a ball: look at the place you want to hit, not at the ball.

Start learning on the right terrain

If you have ever read description booklets, then you have probably come across the designations of types of tracks. There are tracks for pros, and there are for beginners (usually they are marked in green). As a rule, these are gentle and groomed slopes with a short slope, not as steep and hilly as for more advanced skiers.

Don't be afraid to fall

Fear of falling is one of the most common fears. However, falling is as much a part of learning as skiing itself. You will fall. You will fall a lot, and the only way out for you is to learn. Also, high-quality pants will allow you to stay on the slope much longer than in a ski lodge. The third thing is a protective ski helmet. You will fall, remember? Do not rush and do not jump from track to track

Learning on flat and gentle slopes is very convenient, but tedious. You can start learning this style at home. To do this, we stand in a ski rack. The legs are slightly apart (parallel), the knees are slightly bent, the body is slightly tilted forward. Ski ups and downs

Often athletes have to overcome various ups and downs. To maintain a normal speed and reduce the risk of injury, you should learn the basic methods of climbing and descending, a ski instructor can help you with this. Here we will cover only the simplest ones.

Most often, inexperienced skiers climb the herringbone, but this is far from the most effective method lift. A faster way is a half-herringbone. To perform it, you should put one ski with your nose uphill, and push off the second. It should be at the maximum possible angle. In the next step, the push leg becomes the sliding leg. This method is less energy-intensive and allows you to move uphill quickly enough.

The descent technique is the same, only some points differ depending on the requirements. Training should be carried out on slopes of no more than 5 degrees. After a confident study of the racks, you can move on to complex slides.

Most often, the main rack is used for descent. To perform it, you should slightly bend your knees, the body leans forward slightly, hands are pulled back. The distance between the feet is about fifteen centimeters. In this case, it is better to keep one foot slightly forward.

Learning to skate

This method of movement requires good coordination and is learned only after mastering the classical move.

The base here is a semi-skate course. In this case, one ski is pointing almost straight while the other skier is pushing. Start the study should be on a slight slope, moving in an arc. Push off with only one foot. Exercise should be done for two legs in turn.
